Breakfast in Hotel Keihan Kyoto Hachijoguchi

Location was only few minutes walk to the Kyoto station and as well as the airport limo bus. We availed the moderate triple room and later moved to the standard twin room for the remainder of our stay. There was a nice public bath that we used almost every night. The laundry room's washer has an automatic detergent dispenser so no need to buy detergent. The dryer took forever to dry our clothes and had to extend drying time multiple times. It was only cashless payment so no need to bring coins. The toiletries were available after the front desk. There was daily room service and towel change available. The Triple room was spacious enough for 3 people. We had 1 large and 1 carry-on each yet we could still easily walk around with some luggages open. There was a small table with seats for us to have tea and area to store our coats and shoes. There were also separate toilet room and shower room which was convenient for 3 people sharing a space as we could shower anytime and not rush out if someone needs to use the toilet. We later moved to a double room when 1 of us left. When we checked out from the triple room, front desk stored our luggages and were kind enough to transfer the luggages to the next room while we were out and about. The experience in this room was entirely different. The space was a lot smaller. We can barely move around with our luggages. The tablet device to control the room temperature kept malfunctioning. The toilet and shower were in the same room so it was a little inconvenient but manageable. For some reason, the bidet’s water was extremely cold and the toilet seat warmer didnt work at all. Moving to this room surely changed the experience for our stay.

Breakfast in Hotel Keihan Kyoto Hachijoguchi

The hotel is close to the train station, four streets away, and accessibility to various location was very good. The hotel lobby was welcoming with fresh scent and beautiful décor for cherry blossom season. Breakfast was average compared with other hotels in JP. We booked two rooms for seven nights. The room had good space for 3 of us. It was more spacious than other hotel's room we stayed in Japan before. The hotel is little bit old building, but they just renovated the interior and rooms. Room has comfortable beds and pillows. However, the rooms are DUSTY and need additional cleaning. We had different experiences with some staff members who were patient and helpful and others were impatient, especially the manager. The check in process is confusing without instructions. There are no signs helping tourists to figure out what to do. We fumbled around for a few minutes and finally ran into the manager. We told him that we wanted to check in. He raised his voice and said "It's the machine. You need to check in yourself." We were surprised by his disrespectful attitude, as it’s unusual for Japanese to have such an expression when greeting guests. Overall, it is a good hotel without high expectations!!

Breakfast in Hotel Keihan Kyoto Hachijoguchi

The location is very good, close to Kyoto Station. The hotel was quiet, the bed was very comfortable. I liked the eco cleaning option in the room. The breakfast was plentiful (mainly Japanese, but continental breakfast is available). Staff was very kind and helpful. When I arrived it was earlier than the check-in time so I could leave my luggage in the lobby and could go for a walk. This was the same on my last day. They have room in the lobby where you can leave your luggage after check out (if your flight departs late night). Overall I warmly recommend this hotel.

Breakfast in Hotel Keihan Kyoto Hachijoguchi

In terms of all the features, this hotel is quite up to par with its 4* rating, although it is a bit outdated both morally and physically. Considering the low price with breakfast included, the offer looked quite attractive in the midst of Golden Week. The location of the hotel was acceptable for us, 5-7 minutes walk from Kyoto train station, metro and buses to the center and all the sights are a 2-minute walk away. The staff is polite, their English is acceptable, we did not need to solve any complicated problems with them, so everything is OK here. The size of our "moderate" room is simply gorgeous by Japanese standards, an honest 22 sq. m, the bathroom and toilet are separated, everything is convenient. The room is well equipped, all consumables are either in the room or you can take them downstairs as needed, there is a lot of variety, even unnecessary things)), water is supplied every day. The beds are comfortable, bedding and towels are impeccable, there are pajamas for going to the onsen, and for some people for breakfast)). The onsen is quite spacious, two pools, but without outstanding features. The plumbing is in excellent condition, as in almost all decent hotels in Japan. Of course, there are some questions about cleanliness, but not critical. Internal and external soundproofing did not cause any particular problems, neighbors were not heard, and at night you can even open the window for fresh air, the street is not very noisy. The climate control system works fine, blows past the bed, there is an air purifier. Breakfasts are quite good, there is a choice for European and Eastern tastes, it would be strange to expect special uniqueness. If necessary, you can take an iron, there is a microwave on each floor, there is a laundry, but you need to download an application to pay, we did not bother, because it was not relevant at that time. Things before and after the stay can be left in the storage room without any problems.

Breakfast in Hotel Keihan Kyoto Hachijoguchi

The property was clean and the rooms were spacious especially for our budget. The water closet is separate from the shower which made it very convenient for multiple people in the rooms. My kids enjoyed the small seating area especially to enjoy those snacks from 7/11. The hot baths downstairs were convenient and clean.

Good location, less than 10 minuts walk from Kyoto Station. Room is cozy, but quite small. Beds and Bathroom are really good. There is an onsem inside the hotel that can be used without any extra charges.

Breakfast in Hotel Keihan Kyoto Hachijoguchi

The triple room was more spacious than expected. My group was able to have all our luggage (2 medium, 1 large) open and there was still space to move around. Did not get the room with breakfast, but paid for it on 2 mornings. Breakfast buffet selection was wonderful with both Japanese and Western options - ate mainly from the Japanese buffet as a personal preference. Location was very convenient at a short walk from the main JR Kyoto Station which made travelling around Kyoto and doing day trips out of Kyoto a breeze.

Property building in Hotel Keihan Kyoto Hachijoguchi

Hotel is in a great location for those who like to get away from the busy main streets. It's on the less popular side of the station, but we enjoyed being able to escape the people and walk home on quiet streets after a busy day out and about. Breakfast food was delicious - but mainly Japanese and the offerings changed each day. They do have cereals and breads on options. Maybe not the best for fussy eaters.

Restaurant/places to eat in Hotel Keihan Kyoto Hachijoguchi

The hotel is 8 min wallking distance from Kyoto JR station and 5 min walking distance from the bus station to Itami airport. The area is quite and nice, and well served by buses to go almost everywhere. The hotel is very nice and comfortable (maybe the room is a bit small, but in Japan rooms are alsways small!). We highly appreciated the common "onsen" (publich bath open till 1 in the night) for a relaxing bath after an intense day! And the laundry service ;-). Arigatou gozaimazu!
